Troubleshooting

The Revostyler Hot Air Brush is not working for me.
You should take a moment to read your manual. It's easy for you to follow along. Plus, there are great pointers on how to make it even easier to use your Hot Air Brush.

The Revostyler Hot Air Brush keeps making a "clicking" sound.

Generally, when too much of your hair is wrapped around your Hot Air Brush, or if there are tangles in your hair, it will automatically make a "clicking" sound. This is the safety clutch. It will not damage your hair or the brush. This will happen less the more you work with your Hot Air Brush.

Try taking a smaller section of hair and start by using the slower speed. Remember, hold the brush steady, away from your scalp. If you allow the brush to move back towards your scalp, the clicking may start again because you will have drawn extra hair onto the brush.

For hair that is longer than 9 inches from the root, start out by using the Hot Air Brush at your roots. Brush down the length of your hair with the rotation OFF. Once you reach the last 8 or 9 inches of your hair, turn the rotation ON to style the remaining length of hair. Experiment with both sizes of brush head to see which works best for you.

It's a good idea to review your manual to see all of the features and benefits of the Hot Air Brush before operating. There are helpful styling tips and important instructions located in the manual you received with your kit.

Try drying your hair to almost dry, that is 80% or more dry. This can be done by running your Hot Air Brush through your hair without activating the rotation, by using a standard hair dryer or by allowing your hair to air dry. Hair that is wet will stretch and strain as you try and style it.
Your hair should be free of all styling products before using the Hot Air Brush. Hair that has product in it will prevent the Hot Air Brush from working effectively.

Did not get results I wanted.

My hair is too short.
We have designed a special, smaller brush head - perfect for shorter styled hair just like yours. It came with your Hot Air Brush order. That should work perfectly for you.

I want to straighten my hair.
Let's start from the beginning.

  • You've shampooed and conditioned your hair.

  • Next you need to towel dry, comb out all tangles and blow dry your hair until it is 80% or more dry.

  • You should not use any styling products in your hair.

  • It is important to section your hair. Using the styling clip to keep other pieces of hair out of the way, begin with a small section of hair approximately one inch wide at the root.

  • In the beginning, try only using the slow speed until you get used to the Hot Air Brush.

  • Make sure that you let the Hot Air Brush heat up for a few minutes until the polishing pads are nearly too hot to touch.

In the beginning, you may find it easier to take a piece of hair and place it onto the brush head tightly. Hold it away from your scalp with the heat ON before you activate the rotation. After a few seconds, activate the rotation keeping the hair tight away from your scalp for just a few moments. This will work fantastically. After practicing a while, you will be amazed at how fast you can do this.

Hold it there for a few seconds few seconds with the heat ON but the rotation OFF.

Pull the brush up, away from your scalp in an upward motion. At this point, turn the rotation ON making sure the spin is set in the correct direction. Continue using the brush down the length of your hair.

I wanted my hair to really shine.

  • Let the brush rotate in your hair for several seconds before moving on to the next section. This motion in combination with the Hot Air Brush Polishing Pads will draw your hair's natural oils down the length of your hair locking in luster and shine.

It is not spinning / blowing heat.
Is your Hot Air Brush plugged in? The Hot Air Brush does not have a built-in battery, so the unit must be plugged in to function. Perhaps the electrical outlet you are using is not functioning. You may want to try another one just to be sure.
If it is still not functioning, try the RESET button on your plug. Remove the plug from the outlet and allow the Hot Air Brush to cool down. Push the reset button and re-insert the plug into the outlet. The product should then function properly.
If none of the above steps are effective, call customer service for help at (800) 307-0078.

It's taking too long to use.
When used correctly, the Hot Air Brush should cut down the time of your hair styling routine. It may take a little more time now, but once you get the hang of it, the results are so good and so fast, you will be very happy! Have you read the manual? Take a minute to refresh yourself and look it over again. The manual gives you easy tips to achieve great style in considerably less time than your normal styling time. The Hot Air Brush is portable - great for quick touch-ups. You can take it to work, to the gym, even on vacation.
Most people need time getting comfortable with their Hot Air Brush. Keep practicing. We recommend using the Hot Air Brush for a few more weeks. In no time at all, you will be saving time styling your hair.

WATER and other LIQUIDS and the Hot Air Brush.
If the entire unit, handle, cord and/or cord fell into water or liquid, do not operate under any circumstances!!
If the handle has fallen into water or become wet, unplug the unit immediately!!
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, REACH INTO THE WATER TO PICK UP THE UNIT! MAKE SURE THE UNIT IS UNPLUGGED PRIOR TO REMOVING THE UNIT FROM THE WATER OR LIQUID!
You will need to order a replacement Hot Air Brush. This is not covered under the warranty, as this is not considered normal wear and tear.
If only the brush head, apart from the unit, has fallen into water or liquid, let the brush head dry completely before re-attaching it to the handle. Never place a wet brush head on the handle!

It's making my hair frizz.
Make sure your Hot Air Brush is turning in the correct direction. If the brush is rotating upwards toward the root, you are creating a natural frizz to your hair. To eliminate this problem, try setting the rotation to move in a downwards motion from the root to the end. This will create a sleek, smooth finish.
